Just Bagels was founded in 1992 and is owned by Cliff Nordquist, Charles Contreras and James O’Connell. The company began with an objective of making traditional quality bagels using their unmatched recipe. They specialize in making old-style, water bagels and emphasize high quality ingredients and a unique preparation process that involves refrigerating the dough for 6 to 8 hours before it is boiled. Their most popular flavors are energy multi-grain and French toast, which are carried nationally by a number of companies including Starbucks and Barnes & Noble. The company employs 100 workers who help to produce over 18,000 bagels daily at their state-of-the-art Hunts Point facility. Cliff and his partners have plans for a 30% capacity expansion and are fairly optimistic about their business’s future growth in New York City. In 2006, Just Bagels were featured in Crain’s as one of New York’s Top Entrepreneurs.
